North Melbourne have been given further cause to consider playing Harry Sheezel behind the ball in order to help the talented teenager find his feet at AFL level.

No.3 draft pick Sheezel has impressed since landing at Arden Street and was a shining light in Saturday’s 58-point practice match defeat to the Western Bulldogs.

The 18-year-old, who kicked a classy goal and had seven score involvements, was moved to half-back in the final term and finished with 21 disposals.

He also featured in defence during a recent intra-club hit-out.

Sheezel was drafted as a forward but Kangaroos assistant coach Leigh Adams said the coaching staff now have a decision to make.

“Seeing him in that last quarter today, he gave us something a little bit different that we didn’t have in our back six for the first three quarters,” Adams said.

“The ability to get in the right position for handball receives and then link up and get multiple possessions and put the ball inside-50 for us … it’s going to be an interesting one.

“I liken it a little bit to (Collingwood’s) Nick Daicos last year where he came in as a midfielder and they decided to sit him behind the ball to start with and eased him into the game a little bit more.

“It will be a call for Clarko (Alastair Clarkson) to make but after that last quarter it’s probably put a little bit more pressure on for him (Sheezel) to go back.”

Regardless of where Sheezel lines up, his presence will excite North Melbourne fans after a bleak few seasons.

“He’s a pretty exciting player,” Adams said.

“What I love about him is he just takes on information so well.

“If there’s an area of his game he needs to work on, you have the conversation with him and within the next week it’s fixed.

“He just wants to get better, he wants to be a really good player and he’s got some real X-factor to be that player as well.”

Adams eased fears over Cam Zurhaar, who was withdrawn from the Bulldogs clash before half-time with calf tightness.

It was a precautionary measure, with the tough forward-midfielder set to feature in the round-one meeting with West Coast on March 18.
