Victoria Police have released images of several men they say may be able to assist with inquiries as investigations continue into Melbourne’s chaotic anti-lockdown protests last month.

Prime Taskforce has been established to probe incidents allegedly committed during the rallies, including allegations of police assault, criminal damage, incitement and spitting through a car window.

On Friday police released images of people they are seeking who may be able to assist with investigations, including five men who were in the vicinity of the protest in Richmond on September 18.

One man is also sought who may be able to assist with investigations into an incident where a motorist was spat on through the window of a car stuck on the Westgate Bridge on September 21.

Police would also like to speak to several other males who may be able to provide information of damage to police vehicles in Carlton on September 21.

Anyone with information about the men shown should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Hundreds of people were arrested during a wave of protests between September 18 and 24, which included demonstrations at the Shrine of Remembrance and the West Gate Freeway.

There were also ugly scenes, which resulted in Victoria’s construction industry being temporarily halted, outside the CBD headquarters of the CFMEU.

Several police officers were injured during the protests.

Ahead of the September 18 rally though Melbourne’s inner suburbs, Victoria Police announced it would cut movement into the CBD and deploy about 2000 officers.

The event culminated with violent clashes, including when protesters busted through a police line and appeared to trample one officer.
