The Prime Minister is refusing to verify stories that Suhayra Aden and her two kids have arrived in New Zealand as we speak.
The federal government agreed final month to repatriate Aden, who had been detained after attempting to enter Turkey from Syria, due to her suspected hyperlinks to Islamic State.
On the time, it gave assurances there had been intensive planning to make sure public security upon her arrival – however would not give particulars.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern repeated these assurances as we speak, and stated that New Zealanders’ security has been an “absolute precedence”.
Aden was born in New Zealand however moved to Australia when she was six, travelling to Syria in 2014 on her Australian passport.
Aden’s citizenship from Australia was revoked resulting from her affiliations, however it is uncommon that New Zealanders have citizenship revoked.
