Brodie Troy Smith, 40, was allegedly driving his Mitsubishi ute on the Pacific Motorway in Queensland on November 2 at Nerang when the crash occurred.
Police allege a ladder fell from the tray of his ute and into the trail of a 53-year-old motorcyclist who was using behind the automobile.
The rider tried to swerve to keep away from the ladder however was struck by one other automobile.
The motorcyclist was fatally injured and died on the scene.
