Mourne fires: Battle towards wildfire on Northern Eire’s highest peak

Firefighters are escalating efforts to extinguish a big wildfire that has been alight for 2 days on Northern Eire’s highest peak, Slieve Donard.

A number of hearth crews and home equipment from neighbouring cities have assembled at Newcastle, County Down, on the foot of the Mourne Mountains.

In a press release, Northern Eire Fireplace and Rescue Service mentioned it was “escalating firefighting operations within the Mourne Mountains”.

“A lot of sources can be in attendance,” it mentioned.
