A prisoner at Casuarina Jail has died whereas being handled in hospital.
The 45-year-old Aboriginal man died on Saturday following a medical process at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
The Division of Justice stated the prisoner had been admitted to hospital the day past.
Based on the division, the prisoner underwent a medical process and had been positioned in intensive care earlier than he handed away.
“In accordance with all deaths in custody, WA Police will put together a report for a coronial inquiry,” an announcement stated.
The deceased man’s subsequent of kin had been suggested.
When an individual dies in police custody it’s thought of a “reportable dying”. An inquest is then obligatory to look at the supervision, remedy and care of the deceased.
Since 1991, virtually 500 Aboriginal individuals have died, both within the custody of police or in jail.
