Dozens of properties are being evacuated as a big vegetation hearth in Northland is encroaching on a close-by township.
Ahipara is positioned within the far north.

Hearth fighters had been referred to as to Ahipara Gumfields Historic Reserve at a 5.45pm this afternoon
Six helicopters and a number of crews from the area are in attendance.
The hearth is about 500 metres by 400 metres.
Police say they arre evacuating 40 properties round Reef View Highway and Foreshore Highway in Ahipara.
